your post is a little confusing, even if the car is declared off road on a SORN the seller should have the V5 log book to post off, which you should have signed as well.what supplements are you on about and how have you registered the car in your name, did you get tax and mot with the car,it all sounds a bit dodgy,i hope you did a HPI check on the car, please explain a little more.

hi...
no i didnt do a hpl check as i'm unsure what that is??..
i registered it in my name by using a change of ownership form. sent to dvla..
the car has no tax nor mot..
I don't know where to start to firstly gain a log book, get the car on the road...
Any advice??? first time driver and dont know what to do .prety lost and distressed.
There is no such thing as a log book - there hasn't been for several decades.

There is a registration certificate - which it sounds as though you have applied for. The previous seller should have posted his off, with your name on it, and just given you a small tear off strip.
a seller who does not have the V5 (log book) documents may well have stolen the car, or have other reasons for wanting to sell it that what you might think
An HPI check seeswhether there is any outstanding finance on the car, or if it is the sellers to sell
you need to go back to the seller asn ask for the logbook

if you have registered the car in your name, then a V5 form will be sent out to you in your name, this has replaced the logbook as we call it,you now need to book the car in for a MOT test,if it passes then you can insure it and then tax it,and then providing you are a full licence holder you can drive it where ever you want, but beware if you are only a learner, you must have a full licence holder with you until you pass your tests.
