WE have a 2001 renault clio 1.2 16v Dynamique which has started having an intermittent failure of the power steering when we start it, can anyone offer any advice as the dealer claims never to have seen this problem.

This may be a long shot, the Vaux Zafria will not work if a fuse is not connecting properly check your Instruction manual for the car to see if they do control the P.S. also check your fluid tank it does not use the same as the engine oil but very thin Hydroilc oil, Check under your car for leaks, have you had any part of the P.S,system renewed? this could cause an air lock, if all that fails it is down to the pump.
why would a fuse be blown if the car has hydraulic power steering??
David, in my employment we have a zafire the fuse went so did the power steering. result, heavy steering.

I hope this will be of some use to thers as it seems Renault have struggled to identify the error.
