If i try to increase my screen resolution higher than 600 x 800, it makes the desktop area larger than my monitor so all my desktop is not visible?  I've tried every way to sort this out and I can't do it, I have the most up to date driver installed for my monitor.  Can anyone help me as it is driving me crazy.

Well it would help if you included such details as operating system, video card model etc.

It may be that your video card is not capable of a higher reolution. Or you may need to update the video card driver.

If you have changed the resolution it accepted your settings, then it should be just a matter of changing the refresh rate of the monitor. You can do this in windows via control panel-display properties-settings-advanced-monitor. You can change the refresh rate via this tab, but remember some refresh rates can damage the monitor. It is best to leave checked the box that says, hide modes that this monitor cannot display.

Some systems will auto configure the refresh rate after a reboot. It might be worht changing the resolution and rebooting, to see if the refresh rate auto adjusts.

It sounds like you need to resize the picture using the controls on the monitor itself in order to reduce the vertical and horizontal sizes being displayed.
