I was under the impression that Portsmouth, where I live, was the most densely populated city in relation to it's size, but on the radio this morning, they said it was the second. What is the first?

I am pretty sure that would be London at just about 5,000 people per square km.

Portsmouth - 4,720 per km

Others ....

Brighton & Hove - 2,948 per km

Bath - 2,725 per km
