I want to put a message in my Christmas cards this year but do not want to offend anyone. This is what I have written so far, but think it needs something to soften the blow a bit:-" I would like to wish you all a Happy christmas now and in the future. Instead of buying cards and stamps from next year I intend to make a donation to either Sue Ryder Hospice or Cancer Relief."
If anyone can think of a suitable closing line I would be most grateful.

I would put something like.

when I make the donation I will be thinking of all the people that have touched my life, thank you all for being part of what is me.
"I'm sure you'll all appreciate the fantastic work this charity does and of course, I will raise a glass to you all at Christmas time. cheers!"

great idea, by the way :o)
Thank you for your help and understanding in making this happen.
I would say " instead of sending cards" and not buying cards and stamps. It sounds like you are thinking of the cost.
aw what a nice idea, all the above ^ are good replies
I cant add to anything that has been posted -and big up to you xx

We as a family ask that people dont give pressies -like for my Mum and Dads 50th and my brothers 25th anniversaries instead they both asked that people if they wished ,donate to their chosen charity.
I didnt for my 50th (well that was 3 milestones in one year) although I said no pressies as I have everything I want but I still received fantastic presents but I think if you have a charity -RNLI for me- then I certainly would say in future.

Take Care tomking xxx

We do this at work every year - rather than buying cards for people that you see 5 days a week, we all make a donation and we choose a charity each year for it to go to. This is usually a charity that may have affected someone in the team e.g macmillan nurses or alzeimers etc.

You have had lots of good suggestions I particularly like sara's - what you could do is send ecards to those that are on-line.

Sorry only just got round to reading answers. I had almost given up on the idea until I read Sara's reply and I think it really softens the blow and I shall use it word for word. Curvy lady you are so right and I shall certainly change the wording in the way you suggest. Thank everyone for taking the time to answer, this is my first visit to this site (although I use the crossword one ) but it certainly won't be my last you all sound a friendly and helpful lot. thank you once again I'll try not to be so "long winded" next time. Cheers.x
Since your message is early why not suggest a response with email addresses. You can then email, en masse, next years greetings and still donate to your fav charity?
gosh, I'm horribly flattered.. thank you!!

by the way, there are some right fruitcakes on here but you have to ignore them and concentrate on the majority.. we're mostly okay :o)

Thank you again for replying. Terambulan that is an excellent idea and I will certainly add it on. Sara I will certainly watch with interest and thanks again to everyone for your help with my dilemma. Incidentally I think I should try and change my name - despite being tomking I am in fact female!!!
