1940's Childrens clothes

Can anyone tell me please what girls wore to school during the second world war. The clothes are required for my daughters xmas performance. Thanks for any help.

Bit before my time but my mum wore Hebden Bridge Granmmar school uniform up to 1944 and it was a all in one pinafore style tunic o with a hem below the knee, with a button up blouse, tie, blazer and felt hat. actually that is what i wore in the 1960's and 70's to my grammar school, so no differenc ereally.
except we had skirts not the tunic thing
There's a photo here of a school class in 1940. For winter I would imagine that the girls would wear a dress with a home knitted cardigan (possibly in grey or navy blue).
