Hi everyone its been a while since I have had to use this site. Ok I have just brought A Philips DVD burner and some Philips dvd+rw 4.7GB discs. In with the burner was Nero 6. Now I have a few dvd films on my hard drive and I have tried and tried to get them to disc but it wont happen. It goes through the whole process and after waiting for a hour and a half it comes up with a error. So if anyone is a pro at this and knows who to do this in a step by step way then please share this with me.

Many Thanks

Bobby

You need to tell us what the error message says. Also check if you need a plug in on Nero (I did)

Hi I dont need the plug in. as for the error message I cant remember it it was just numbers

This doesn't sound like your problem but when I put a DVD burner into my PC it was in there along with another standard CD drive. The DVD burner has to be set as Master, and the other one as slave.

With every bit of hardware, it's likely that by the time you get your hands on it there will be a new "firmware" version which you can install. This may fix things for you.

One thing I'd try would be to look up your exact model on ebuyer.com and read the reviews to see if anyone else has had the same problem.

cheers it is set to master as the only other hardware I have is another hard drive witch I can pull out and change and I use that for my demos
is it buffer underun or failing 2 supply data fast enough 2 yor recorder errors?.if its 1 of these its yor recorder thats the prob....cant c it been +/- probs or nero thats the fault

more info needed ie at what point does it crash ? if it is during converting the movie file then it is the movie not the burner or disc.

also, have you tried doing a test burn ? my drive was always fine with datasafe discs then all of sudden it decided it hated them ! (i found this out after re-formatting windows and buying a new hdd !) once i changed the disc media all was fine

did u get error immediatley after encoding?

yeah after it was complete and the disk tray came out thats when the error came up. So if any can burn dvds using this program can you tell me how you do it please. I dont know anything about baffers or stuff like that. cheers
in any case i advise u to check out firmware update whether u have a problem or not i got a samsung dual layer burner with version 4 and then updated it to version 7. now i don't burn up 30/50 % of my discs like before. also if the pc is not that fast then try not to do anything stressful with the pc or if possible not at all in anycase u should be able to surf the internet while burning without problems
i had roxio6 at the time it gave the same error everytime,i did everything updatin,re installin, firmwere, bought +/- discs bout4 diff kinds, split the drives up,de fraggin, adawere, mcafee scans, went 2 ask a so called expert at pc world{stupid i am}he said its roxio and suggested nero6 reloaded{as u would}bought it,booted it,encoded a film, and guess wat same error, its yor dvd burner my friend, dont pull yor hair out like i did lol bought a new drive and not a problem at all.......want any cup coasters iv 100s lol
nero 6 does it al for u just go for there settins......o yea use ntsc.....dont use uk pal coz they dont work on any dvd over 1 year old....step by step on nero.first click make a dvd,2nd add files,3rd a open files box comes up,click yor directory u want with the film file in,click the film file u want, its then added 2 yor project,4th click next{bottom right hand corner}5th edit yor menu, click next, always use the ntsc settin never uk pal for the video mode, and finaly click burn and thats it......o yea close any programs in the background running

I had exactly the same problem with my Freecom External DVD burner. In the end I took it back to PC world and got a replacement, which worked fine for about 12 months and then that one broke too.I now have a much better quality burner and have had no problems with.
