Just heard that John Sargent has pulled out of Strictly Come Dancing.
Or has he been pressured to do so, by the judges or producers.
This is a kick in the face of all the people who have spent their hard earned cash voting for him.
I am absolutely disgusted.

I do not believe for one minute that John Sergeant would lie - or rather I hope he wouldn't.

He is quoted as saying:

In a statement, the 64-year-old announced today: 'I am sorry to say I have decided to leave Strictly Come Dancing.

'It was always my intention to have fun on the show and I was hoping to stay in as long as possible.'

'The trouble is that there is now a real danger that I might win the competition. Even for me that would be a joke too far.'

So he is claiming it was his decision to leave and I have no reason to doubt him
Other viewers lost 'hard earned cash' voting for other contestants who lost , so John Sergeant is not a special case on that account. A joke's a joke, but if he'd won it would have taken the 'strictly' and the 'dancing' out of the prize, since the show is intended to represent strict tempo in dancing and he represented neither! He's right to quit lest the joke became reality: he evidently fears it might.

That said, he's provided us with entertainment and an opportunity to show British support of the underdog, dislike of opinionated authority, sense of humour and a love of the absurd.
by the same token everyone lost hard earned cash when someone was voted off. i think he was def pushed, shame really because that also makes a mockery out of the public voting for who they want.
His excuse that he's left because he was in danger of winning is farcical.

The way the rules are there is no way he could even have reached the final. He was always going to be bottom on the judges' score board - by a very long way - so when it got down to the final four contestants he would still be in the bottom two even if he got most votes from the public and the judges would then ditch him in the dance-off.

Good riddance I say.
he had to leave as he's doing his Joe brand stand up soon
Good for John Sargeant! How to be very (typically British) sporting!
Yes, that was very sporting of him, but fair? I don't know. The rules are rules and people kept voting for him. I felt quite sorry for him really, becuase he was doing what the people wanted and I don't think he deserved some of the jibes sent his way but I don't think he was the best dancer, although to be honest on Sat, he was on a par with Cherie I thought!!
John and Krystina have been headline news, he has opted out of the show because of pressure form the judges! He didn't want to end up being a laughing stock! I don't think he should have left, it is a dancing competition but also an entertainment show and he did entertain! People are entitle to vote how they like! The judges are now backtracking on their comments and saying they are sorry to see him leave' but they are now relieved and now can concentrate on the "good talent"
It is a reality show and it takes all sorts to make it entertainng! He should never have left!
