Has anyone received a letter from Advantage Loans claiming that they have applied for a loan and it has been passed to them?.My son received this letter on Saturday, but knows nothing about appling for a loan, something he doesn't need nor want.Is this just a scam or has someone possibly tried to obtain a loan in his name? I rung them this morning to try and get some information but after asking his name and postcode just said"I take it he isn't looking for a loan and removed his name from their mailing list...weird

Are they asking for a fee of around 50?

If so,this company is up to its usual tactics - you pay the 50 and don't get the loan.

No they asked for nothing, they picked up the phone, asked for a postcode and a name,I told them that it was my sons(he doesn't like dealing with phones) and the she said "I take it that he isn't looking for a loan" and that she would take his name off their mailing list, and that was that,I had already looked them up on the internet and read that they were asking for a 50 fee, but everyone who had made a comment had applied for a loan, my son hadn't.

Generally they prey on people with poor credit who want a loan. Essentially they con them out of the admin fee. Just ignore, do not touch with bargepole. Possibly your son's details where on a mailing list they bought.
