Have just realised I've been driving without MOT for a week - thought it was due 31st, not 21st. Does anybody know if there wil be a fine, and how much it is?

Have you been stopped then?? Or have you just noticed the date? If the latter, no problem, just get it tested. Unless you were stopped and reported for the offence then there won't be any fine.

No, I have not been stopped - just took my certificate out on my way to the garage!! In any case, I'd be interested to know what the fine might be, as it doesn't seem to have been covered on AB and I'm sure others would be interested............

And thanks mr rusty, that's put my mind at rest.
Whether police prosecute for no MOT varies from force to force, the more important issue is that if your involved in an accident when your vehicle has no current MOT your insurance would be void.
The maximum fine for not having a current MOT Certificate is 1000.
Toneisok - lack of an MOT will invalidate an insurance policy in respect of non third-party claims only if such a clause exists in the Terms and Conditions of that policy. Otherwise the insurer is likely to reduce the amount payable for the claim.
