A "whispering gallery" is located near the famous Oyster Bar & Restaurant at Grand Central Station, New York. Im asking myself what the hell is a whispering gallery?! Apparentely if two people stand either side of the large curved archways and whisper into the corner the other person at the far side should be able to hear your voice as if you were right next to them.
It supposedly happens because the whisperer's voice follows the curve of the domed ceiling. Has anyone ever been to New York knowing of this and tried it?
I think you can do it at St. Paul's Catherderal in London and St. Peter's Basillica in Rome too because of the similar arch designs.

I've been to New York, including Grand Central Station, but didn't hear anything about a whispering gallery.

I have head of a similar thing at St Pauls though, used to work 2 mins walk from it and colleagues who had been in were talking about it.
I've been to St.Pauls in London and done the whispering thing, and yes it works.
