at work we have an old fax which is broken so it cannot be used. faxes are still being sent to it but of course we do not receive them. can our old number be diverted to another number at work so that faxes to the old automatically come through the other one?

Just plug the new machine into the socket that the old machine is plugged into. The number is assigned to the line not the machine.

Thanks Fitzer, I didnt explain it properly. The other fax belongs to another department and we are using that one which has a different number. We cannot have a new fax and the old one cannot be mended. Just need a way of getting our faxes to go through the other fax when people dont know the number is changed.
Is it not possible to set up call divert using the British Telecom *21* service on the old fax line (dial Star21Star and follow the instructions)? If not, call BT and they will set up the diversion for you. You do of course have to pay for the diverted part of the call.
Is a new fax machine really that expensive? Your boss must be tight!
