Washing Machine not working

We have a Hoover Nextra 2126s washing machine and it has suddenly stopped working. Power to it is ok but when you select a progrm, the red stop light flashes. When you press the start button the red stop light remains on. Any ideas??? Thanks

Check the filter is not clogged up (normally at the front, at the bottom)
