Your attempts at training such as putting a dogs nose in waste and smacking them on the nose, is an outdated method that is now considered cruel and not at all effective.

The only kind and reliable method is regularly putting her outside and huge amounts of praise and reward when she performs as desired. She may have become very anxious following your previous methods which will make it very difficult for her to learn what to do. Also at 4 months she will make mistakes, and do you leave her unattended, is this when the incidents occur?

I can not help but think that you have very limited experience of dog owning and that you urgently need to learn far more about it. This site will provide you with brief hints and tips but you would be better off getting a book on dog care, reading it very thoroughly and acting on it.

Or you may find dog caring is not for you and you will rehome your dog

a small slap on her snout is hardly cruel...i would consider it more cruel if i kept her outside for long periods as u say,she is only a small dog and im afraid she would die of the cold, also rubbing her nose in it,thats what i have heard before, even if it is an old practise ,did it not work in the past? also she is hardly ever unattended, even after she has been outside for an hour in the after noon she will still come inside and poo or pee..instead of critism why didnt u advise me of how to treat the problem saying as u are so much of a caring dog owner
tatu we got a boxer who is 1 now and she still doesnt know. We researched howq to do it and followed advice but nothing she still does it. Very annoying really!!!
If she is a small dog, try her with a litter tray, (cat litter will do). If you can put it in a corner in the kitchen, and keep an eye on her. When she crouches, quickly pop her in the tray, she'll soon get used to it. When she does perform, praise her, and give a a dog treat. As she gets used to the idea, gradually move the tray closer and closer to the door, and then to outside. The two methods you have been trying, are definitely a no-no under the recent new Animal Welfare Legislation. Also the dog will not connect the scolding with what she has done, and putting her outside for 2 hours, is quite a bit too long, as at 4 months she is still only a baby in dog years. Hope all goes well. And if not, I think you might consider re-homing her. But I hope it doesn't have to come to that. Good Luck. Please let us know any progress.
No one is suggesting you leave her outside for looooong periods, but you must take her out regularly. Leaving her outside for 2 hours is insane.

Take her out after eating, as soon as she wakes up, at least every hour in between and when she is sniffing 'with intent'. You must wait outside with her, and give her loads and loads of praise when she gets it right. If she has an accident, pick her up and take her outside, even if she has finished.

A puppy is no different to a baby, and has to learn, rubbing her nose in wee is outdated, cruel and unnecessary.

You obviously gave very little thought into this dog before you bought it, and your only concern is that she cost you a lot of money, but because you dont have the patience to teach her the basics in house training, you are thinking of giving her up to another home.

I suggest you contact the breeder who can find a suitable loving permanent home.
The poor dogs not even 3mths old and your treating it like that,To put her nose in what she does is awfull. Would you treat a 3mth old child that way? you need puppy training pads.and PATIENCE.what your doing to the dog will have lasting effects on it, For pity sake its a puppy. stop expecting it to know what to do without YOU training it,What your doing is cruel,Get a training book .or at least see your vet,
I absolutely agree with Snoopdog. You must try to get professional help before simply giving her up. You don't sound particularly experienced at dog owning to be using such methods thus it makes sense to go to the vet in the first instance who will point you in the right direction. You are teaching your dog to be fearful of you, do you really want that???????
I was beginning to wonder where you had been. Welcome back.
