driving getting penatly points

ihaue 9 points on my licence and just got 3more totals 12 in all.is there anythink i can do to stop my licence being taken of me.what will happen when i produce my licence with already haing 9 on there
will they send it back with 12points on there or wont i get it back.there must be something i can do to not have my licence taken of of me.

If a driving offence takes you to 12 (or more) penalty points, the matter can't be dealt with by the same people that deal with fixed penalties. You will be summoned to appear before a court, so that the magistrates can decide what to do.
The court is obliged to ban you from driving unless you can show that there are 'exceptional circumstances'. Magistrates are instructed that such circumstances must be really exceptional to prevent them from imposing a driving ban. In particular, they're told that the fact that an offender will lose their job if they're banned does not count as 'exceptional circumstances'.
If you can show, for example, that your seriously ill child would be unable to attend vital hospital appointments if you were banned, you might well stand a reasonable chance of keeping your licence. Otherwise a ban is effectively automatic.

Do you guys get a self righteous kick from trawling the law forum looking for people to tell off?
Why don't you apply to be magistrates and you can turn it into a vocation!
Or are you expecting that someone will see your words of wisdom and go "What a fool I've been - I must change my life"?
Chris is right but some magistrates can be a bit unpredictable on this - it is a long shot though.
The other argument that seems to be effective is if you do any charitable work that would be affected. So if you do anything like scouts or stuff like that it's worth trying to argue that.
