I think that this may be an answer in the quizzes and puzzles section but I am unable to find a definition for what a billet door is.

Google comes up with lots of people selling billet door acessories but no description of what one actually is. It may be part of a truck or van and appears to be an American phrase.

Any ideas.

Cheers

No, the subject is for cryptic descriptions of types of door.

The clue in this instance is "sleeping place".

I know that a billet door exists, just not what it is.

Thanks anyway

Duncan
Might the answer be stable door?
Some of those sites mispell bullet as billet.
In other cases a billet refers to a chunk- of metal or wood.
A billet is a rough-finish cast bar. It can be round, square, hexagonal, or any other cross-section. The ''doors'' you will have seen on Google have been machined from a cut section of such bars.
This is off the top of my head ( another phrase saying) but a billet is a word for a place to stay set up by some official organisation, usually the army so I guess a billet door is a place where a company has already established a customer and further trading is possible. Double glazing salespeople spring to mind.
