Black activists & Hamilton/Obama

It seems to me from the media that black activists are jumping on the Obama/Hamilton bandwagon. I hope they won't sour the success of these two worthy human beings. What do you think ?

I think it depends on what you mean by "black activists" and "jumping on the bandwagon".

There's a perception (real or imaginary) that there is a glass ceiling and that black people have a problem breaking through.

Bringing their achievements to prominance and showing that the ceiling can be broken is a good and positive thing.

Much as it was when so much was made of Margaret Thatcher being the first woman Prime Minister.



Do you have a specific example that's upsetting you?

I think there was this perception Jake the peg, but surely now that someone black has the won the right to the most powerful job in the world it means black people can no longer say they are opressed? or does having a black president make no difference? Personally I don't look at the man and think he is black, I just see a well spoken American, who cleverly seemed to avoid being too specific about what he would do and promosed change.

I'm sure Obama will get whiter and whiter in black peoples eyes the more he screws up; which is inevitable within the US presidency.
