I am self employed and work from home usually. I'll ask the cats if they ever fancy popping outside for a quick one - although generally, the minute I open the back door there is a mass exodus of felines.
Yes of course, but I go out of the office everyday anyway for at least an hour all told, to get away from people who sit gormlessly in front of a pc and crunch crunch through crisps, carrots, celery, little twee Tupperware containers of pasta, ect ect. I have even seen a colleague shovelling food into his mouth and slurping while entertaining perfect strangers. So you go to visit someone, and the best respect they can pay you is to eat noisily in front of you.
gonna ignore the obvious I'll ask the cats if they ever fancy popping outside for a quick one jokes :)
Go outside with them then, I'm a smoker and take several fag breaks a day, but I also never take a full lunch break, am always at work at least 15-20min earlier than needed and have very often stayed behind for 3-4 hours later than I'm paid for when needed.
I also often find these "fag breaks" are some of the most productive times for the exchanging if ideas and working out solutions to problems
i dont get other breaks and dont really get a lunch, and now weve got to work every 4th saturday and take a day off thro the week for it - big con if you ask me, but in this climate you cant complain eh
I don't smoke but as I work in a school I couldn't anyway.(unless I wanted to go into the girls toilets which is where most of the kids smoke - I'm sure they think we don't know!)
Ah but what if one of those members of staff is required??
If someone comes looking for someone at work then i say have you tried the smoking shelter?
I find it really irritating being a receptionist having to take messages for those who have popped out for said 15 minutes.
I don't smoke and the only time i get a break is if i feel unwell and need fresh air, or have to run an errand.
