An accident, caused by driving too fast away from the paparazzi.  Having said that, I think she courted the press and enjoyed her celebrity life style.  She was living life in the fast lane, and unfortunately died in the fast lane.

I think the suggestion that it was a planned crash is ludicrous and that the whole thing should now die a death.  She has been dead now for 7 years.

I also believe the death was an accident. It's a simple fact of life - borne out by many previous 'celebrity' deaths, that someone will start a rumour concerning the circumstances that a famous person is not actually dead. It's simply blowing smoke, and has no validity in reality. Had someone really conspired to kill the princess, the story would be out by now - it's simply not possible to involve the necessary number of people, and keep them all quiet for ever more.

When there is a celebrity related tragedy there are always the people who will try to make it sensational by introducing these conspiracy theories. Take for instance Jill Dando - some people said that a former boyfriend was behind her death, but later it was proved that the murder was committed by a mentally sick man.

As FP said Princess Diana has now been dead 7 years and it is time that these stories are laid to rest.

Yawn...
No amount of conspiring could have prevented her from putting on a seatbelt.

The sort of people who believe in conspiracy theories concerning Diana's death have such a warped sense of reality that they are impervious to the obvious logic of the point made by jenky - not just

  • how did they make sure she wasn't wearing a seat belt?

but also

  • how did they make sure that all four people in the car would be killed or have their memory of the accident destroyed?
  • how did they makes ure the driver was drunk and/or on drugs?
  • how did they make sure that Dodi himself would insist on a change of car and bodyguards at the last minute?
  • how did they make sure that the car would go through a tunnel without the usual crash barriers?
  • why did they choose such a clumsy, convoluted and peculiar mwethod of assassination that could so easily have failed?

The question is wrongly worded, because the people who "think the crash was planned" are the people who do not "think" at all.

 Couldn't agree more Bernardo

The accident was planned, not by the person or persons,

most people ascribe to,but to a unknown factor, unbeknown to the public at large.
