This has been around for a while now.

The receiver has a robot womans voice reading a text to you.

I honestly thought it only works for mobile to mobile.
Does it cost anything to retreive the message?
how would you know you'd received a text message on your land line?
how do you retrieve the message then? do you have to call a special number or something?

someone at work has just told me that the landline rings as normal when you receive a message, and an electronic voice reads out the message!

incredible that hardly anyone knows about this!!

Yep - the phone just rings as normal and you get an electronic message saying 'you have received a text message from xxxxxxxxxxx (number)' a posh electronic lady then speaks the message.

Is this service only available on certain networks though?

It does work.

Can't imagine when I'm going to use it, but thanks for the tip - I'm having great fun texting my 'phone!
