hi,
my partner got caught driving without any insurance the other day, he was given a fine of 200pounds, his car confiscated and 6 points on his license. He has only been driving for a year, what i want to know is, will his license definately be revoked? even if it means he will lose his job because of it? (i know it will be his own fault as he shouldn't be driving without insurance, he missed his last payment and has an annoying habit of not reading his mail to see they'd cancelled the policy) And if his license is revoked how long will he have to wait to retake his test?

any help would be great thanks

Yes, it will be revoked.

He can apply for his theory test as soon as he gets his provisional licence, and when he has passed that he can apply for the practical. It's not a ban for a set period, it is a return to full learner status.
Cant see why his licence will be revoked on 6points.

Once he does get his insurance (which could be a higher premium due to his offence) he should be back on the road.
Because if you accumulate 6 points within the first two years of passing your test, your licence is revoked. That has been the case since 1997 - it's not the court that does it, it's the DVLA

possibly because any new driver (under 2 years) who gets 6 points or more gets their license revoked!!

so if he retakes his test will that be like a new license or will he still have the 6 points he's got? will he have to re apply for a provisional?
All the info is on the link I posted - he has to apply for a new licence

ok, thanks very much, you've been a great help!
Yes he will still have six points which means another six within three years of the first offence and he is liable for a "totting" ban.
