Hi...when i got my flu injection a few weeks ago, the nurse said it would take up to 2 weeks for it to become fully protecting of the 3 particular strains of the flu vaccine which i received.

If you come into contact with anyone who has the flu within those two weeks, then you can still catch it, flu jab or not.
...however, it is not a sudden onset of protection at precisely 21 days, you become more protected as each day passes, thus you are less likely to succumb after 10 days than after just 5.

You can protect yourself too with a healthy diet, lots of fruit and veg with vit C, and plenty of exercise. Also, keep well hydrated.
