Whats wrong with my Yucca???

I have had my yucca for 8 years but the other day i noticed some brown strands coming off the branches. They look a bit like roots but i dont really know what they are. can anyone help??

Sometimes yuccas will grow arial roots if it is being kept in a very humid environment, these will not harm the plant, they should dry up and fall off after a while. It is hard to tell without seeing the plant itself. Does the plant look unhealthy? Usually yuccas only flower once and then die, so if it has flowered last year or this year it could by on its last legs.
