Question for Londoners...

Well actually, anyone who knows London quite well.

As some of you may know from my constant hand wringing, hair pulling whinging on various other topics on AB I am looking for a room to rent in London. I've joined all the usual forums etc.. so that's not a problem.

Howevere I've been quite stubbon about looking mainly in South East London and it's been pointed out to me (several times) that realistically I work in central London and I should consider options in North London too as I'm spending a lot of time travelling (3hours in total a day)... When I finished recoiling in shock and horror at the suggestion I have to admit it does make sense for me to look there too.

I don't know North London very well at all and so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me of nice areas in North London, preferably with a Victoria or Northern Line Tube Station.

Cheers

Depends on your budget I guess.

When I worked there I lived (albeit in some hotels) in West Kensington (nice and not too badly priced and very popular - great kebab shop too!

Was also in Hampstead and Belsize Park but stpidly expensive!

I was in Earls Court for a couple of days but it's really noisy there, constant sirens!

I have friends who live in Enfield and I like it there but the nearest tube is Seven Sisters, there are some nice parts round there though like Greenfields and such.

I found West Kent the easiest commute, straight on the district as worked on Ludgate Hill whereas the others I had to change.

Finchley and Golders Green are nice or Balham and Clapham down south.

Hve a friend who lived in Upton Park, noooooo!

Our receptionist was from Essex and she found the commute pretty easy.

Places round St Albans are really nice and quaint but depends what you're after really.
