Hi karm,
I've read a few of your posts recently. Have you ever thought you might have a social phobia? Look up the symptoms on the web. I use to feel very insecure about going out & all the social interacting stuff. I think over the last few years I have gained in confidence through getting back in to working with others. It may be worth talking things over with your doctor? Take care xxx
No it is not a social phobia, and good on you karmgirl!

Work is for work, not the revolting sights and sounds (apples, crisps, celery, carrots) of people moronically filling their faces in front of a pc screen.

If you want to eat, leave the office and take a break, don't inflict all the munches and crunches and rustles on your colleagues.

Do you have axstationery cupboard ?
Hello sod!
I have no problems eating in front of people, however, there is a guy who sits behind me and eats apples with a slurping noise. There is also a woman in front of me (one of my reportees) who doesn't stop eating. She starts at about 8.30 and carries on till after lunch. Either its fruit or nuts, so much noise comes from her.

Just eat your bagette Karmgirl and don't worry what others think. It shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes.
how about a non-messy, non-noisy alternative? a cheese sandwich??
Phobia might be toos trong a word .But theer should be no problem eating socially as man has through the ages eaten socially as a group .
therefore iod look into it as it may stem from shyness or some other reason as to why you feel uncomfortable.

tiggerblue, apples don't slurp, they CRUNCH. When they start crunching around me I leave and go for a stroll on the roof. Notice also how people have a glazed moronic expression when crunching apples, crisps, etc.

Eating is for dining tables, crisps are for pubs, NOT FOR THE WORKPLACE.
Celery anyone? :0/
The crunching does annoy me Sod but the after-slurping of the juices annoys me even more. He does it all the time. He also makes a noice not too disimilar to popeye gulping down his tin of spinach when eating his cereal. I just eat my sandwiches in the office which doesn't have anything crunchy in them.
Mmmmmm Doritos anyone? hehe
Right, ok. A mid-morning meeting, about 12 people. 11 of those people are happy quietly to discuss the agenda. The 12th brings in 2 HUGE ham rolls and 2 packets of vile monster munch, eats them noisily, all the time licking fingers and making revolting noises. Also one of those silly bottles of water, noisily slurped from every 10 seconds.

11 people managed to go from 11am to 12.30 without filling their faces, the 12th didn't.
imagine the noise he makes taking a dump then ?

pprrrrpppp plop plop splooooooosh
its the noise of the gulping and slurping that gets me :D
I used to love that stuff Chucky :-)

Seem as though this guy has an eating disorder Sod. More of an over-eating disorder. I usually survive on one sandwich a day until I get home. I know its not good but I don't have time for breakfast so its 2 mugs off cappuchino until 12.
Pringles anyone? Cucumber sandwich?

See this is why I hate eating in public cus everyone hates the noise of people eating. My bloke colleague at work makes loads of noise crunching his crisps and stuff but he doesn't car. I wish I just didn't care. Yes I think I do have a bit of anxiety, have said that on here before.
