Messing with my daughter we planted garlic bulbs from the kitchen as they looked a bit old.
They have now got green tops about 5 inches long sprouting from the top. Will they be edible? and how do we look after them?

if you go onto google & type in growing garlic, lots of sites on there which look helpfull
Yes you will be able to enjoy using them . Harvest about the end of August as the leaves brown and turn over. In between keep them weed free and give a good general fertiliser about the end of March and again towards the end of May. You can plant garlic cloves about now which you have obviously done or in spring. I have planted at both times and find that I get a better result from an Autumn sowing.
Well done Martymod ! You will find that under the ground all sorts of interesting things are happening to your original clove of garlic... it will be getting larger and larger and forming a new bulb with lots of little cloves - lots more info here:-
