Sorry if this question has already been asked but I've just gone into my profile and seen that some of my questions and answers have been banned.  I know for a fact that I've not used any vulgar language or been rude.  Is there a way to see what was banned and why?

If you take a look on "My Profile" at your Q?A, etc., you will see which ones have been banned.

'My Profile' is on the left hand side of this page - under Welcome Back.

Sometimes it can be quite baffling as to why a perfectly normal resonse or a question has been banned. Smudge has shown you where to find them but the 'why' is a different matter.

It can be because of the wrong category, but my Banned Q's have been 1) Giving a ginger plant recipe 2) Asking the name of the music from a Bounty advert and my worst offence  - wishing everyone Happy Christmas. This last crime resulted in a banning twice!

We are real renegades on this site :-)

Thanks Cetti - In haste & as my bed was calling, I omitted to give Uzoma the reasons why some posts are banned!

Uzoma - I have requested on several a occasions for Banned to be changed to Deleted/Moved or whatever. The word Banned does seem hash, when in fact they've only been moved.

Sometimes answers are banned if they are facetious, irrelevant, rude, going off on a tangent, etc.  Sometimes a good answer is banned because it is responding to a rude answer which has also been banned, so when the rude answer has been banned, there is no reason for the response to remain.  It is for this reason that it should be called "deleted" instead of "banned".
Thank bernardo - my sentiments entirely!

do you guys get emails to tell you that your Qs or As have been banned?

i recently discovered that i've had 1 question and 5 answers banned, but at the time i never received any notification that they'd been 'banned'.

and i find it a bit strange that the question they banned was about the background music in a sainsbury's advert! i didn't realise sainsbury's was such a scandalous subject!

i actually emailed the ABed to find out what was wrong with it, but the reply said they didn't have time to respond to individual cases (funny how they still had time to send me that email though!)

how about a category system? eg. "your post was banned on the grounds of racism/sexism/irrelevance/etc"

Have you expressed an unconventional opinion Uzoma? If so, trust me you're anwer will be banned . do what I do now, stick to Music and TV, theycan't get you there ... I don't think.

No secretquiz, I don't know about anyone else but I've never received any email or explanation about my totally innocent Q and A's.

As bernardo says facetious, rude, etc  remarks are likely candidates for deletion, but  if yours don't fall into any of these categories then it is bewildering to say the least.

There were no problems with the original Editor as he kept in touch personally....so lets hope our new one will treat us just as well.

I am a dear sweet little old pensioner with white hair and have had 4 questions banned - I ask you - as if I would be rude, offensive or whatever.  I really feel quite slighted.  Bet this doesn't get printed either.

Thanks everyone so far.I've just had a good look through my profile.  I have had 3 banned questions & 2 banned answers but I can only see 1 question marked banned in my profile.  Basically, I asked it a number of months ago about an England football team made up of only black players in every position.  I guess that might be seen as controversial in a very PC society.  Could a question or answer be banned even if I implied a swear word without writing it or actually swearing with it?
