Does anyone know what percentage of people pleading not guilty in crown court actually get not guilty.

Also if the police have photos which are pretty bad and copies of 999 tapes would they still have a chance?

Should have been today but got a call at 1/4 to 5 yesterday saying it was off murder cases still running I know thats true cos it is on the news about it all the time but doesnt help me not even got a date now.
The acquittal rate varies slightly from year to year (and across different parts of the country) but it's roughly 40%.

The figures in this link are a few years out of date but they show that between 1999 and 2004 the percentage acquitted each year ranged from 38% to 44%:

It's unlikely that the current figures will be much different.

however, the average number of aqucitals aren't particularly relevant, in my opinion. It just depends on the strength of the evidence and they day in court, and that will vary for each individual case
