Hi think it was nat asking about the Love In A Box scheme for the troops in Afghanistan, as long as the shoe box does not weigh more than 4kg the Post Office will send it for free, address it to a British Soldier, BFPO 792.

I saw on he news the other day that they (forgot who "they" are now!) were requesting we don't send these type of gifts for our soldiers and they were holding up normal parcels sent by relatives to their loved ones!

I remember it as my jaw dropped and thought to myself..."well just lay on some more bloody mail planes then!!"

oh and the lady at work says she addresses her's to her daughter s BF but apparently all the lads put them in the one pile and share the boxes anyway.
Oh, that's nice! How does this work then? I'd love to do something like this. Do you just fill up a shoe box with goodies? Is there a list of prohibited items somewhere? Will certainly do one at xmas!
I'll do a box to, what sort of stuff do they like, does anyone know what are the best things to put in the box.

it's very simple Max, just put things in an ordinary shoe box, seal it and address it, put on the outside something to say where it has come from, we are just putting Debs on the box. You can put all sorts in, toiletries, sweets, packet custard!!!! use your imagination! I send a loo roll with a miniature whiskey in the tube!!! Some have sent things like liquorice and polo mints, it is really hard to get it to 4kg so donlt worry about that too much! Don't put chocolate or anything fresh in it.

you can send paperback books, puzzle books, packs of sports socks, tinned sponge puddings!!!! Wet wipes, toothpaste, fruite pastilles!!!
