When I was 40 I had a huge party for all the family and felt that I was happy and contented with a future all set out and planned.

A month later I was a lone parent of 3 kids with only a part-time job.

I set about making everything matter and though in the last 12 years I have lost both parents, my life has changed so dramatically I cannot imagine the carefree life i thought I enjoyed!

What I am saying is live every day as it comes and be ready to take every opportunity life presents,
I agree with dot. The best laid plans have a habit of going terribly wrong, so just take it as it comes!
yes I agree with dot, you never know what the future holds so appreciate the things in your life now
somehow life has a habit of going t??s up if you are a honest decent person, if you're a crook or charlatan it seems you get away with it, or do you??????
Hello lil hun , will you be on here tomorrow ? If not may I wish you a Happy Birthday in advance :-) xxx
i dont think there is anything wrong with setting yourself goals and having ambition, but on the whole live your life from day to day and set yourself challanges like gaining a new skill or qualification, do something you have never done before and the rest of your life will fall in to place
Set goals , dont Set them too high then they are achievable.Perhaps if you're looking for a partner , rather than diving in take even the full 3 years t find someone that you think you could grow old with happily.

Ive done 5 year plans and all that stuff and it seems looking back that if you plan too far ahead or in too much detail then you can end up more disappointed than anything.

So enjoy the next three years as you'll soon be 40 and old like the rest of us.
