Both my kids have gone off to uni, I've got a job I hate, live in an area I loathe and the clocks go back soon so I'll never see daylight. Can anyone offer any glimmer of hope?

well you could buy a torch.
Get a job as a vamipres apprentice......
time to pack up and start afresh elsewhere!

are we related? we have the same surname ;o)
If its that bad why not move & look for a new job?
Knobby youre really helpful when some damsel is in distress aint ya, ?
You have two wonderful, clever kids who are fulfilling their potential by going to university. You have a job, and if you don;t like it, you can always look for another one. We lose an hour of daylight, but that means you can snuggle up on the sofa earlier with a drink, a book, or a hot chocolate, go shopping for bright and lovely winter clothes, you don't have to worry about not being tanned, if you're single you can forget about shaving your legs for a bit longer...lol :O)
Take ~max~'s advice, nobody has died, instead of looking on the black side think about how you can make the most of what you have, make your home comfy cosy for the winter, start your Christmas shopping, plan your Christmas for when your kids descend on you with all their washing, start looking for a new job in a different area. We all are not keen on the dark nights but it's not forever there is always another Spring around the corner. Good luck xx

thanks all. I feel so much better after all your kind words, although that could be something to do with the large jd & coke i've just polished off.

Your only jealous loggy cause that is what you was just about to say
Cheer up, think of me, I live in Ibiza, have a wonderful life, swimming pool, damned good looking, no need to work, and gorgeous weather all the time. So when times seem dark, just think of me - there, that's comforting isn't it!
blimey, remind me NOT to ask you to make me feel better nettie lol Now we're all peed off with our lives ;-)

Have to agree with max who has just hit the nail on the head. You are so lucky to have two bright , wonderful, happy kids. Sit back and cherish that fact.
The stuff you mentioned is all changeable and think of the extra hour in bed!.
Actually it's the empty nest syndrome which is so painful. My daughter (22) has just spread her wings and although now I'm getting used to it, it still hurts like hell. I feel useless now, you, at least have a job, cheer up!
