Would you ever take things further than zapping these hiddious trolls I mean can you not do anything legally as they did agree to the terms and conditions? I am just saying give them a warning as I am sure you can track down their work from their ip address? Maybe I should have posted this in suggestions?

Tom and Betty have been married for 20 years, they have 3 lovely children. All of them use the same computer at home, all of them are enthusiastic and loyal members of Answerbank. Except that Harry, 17 sometimes posts daring rubbish. AB bans the IP address, even assuming it is not dynamic. Mum and Dad and the other 2 kids are blocked out and not happy. In addition, Dad sometimes posts rather salacious stuff from the public library in Luton. AB bans this IP address too. Good strategy don't you agree.
And who was you in a previous life????
Breach of contract, you mean?

Very difficult to prove who actually signed up under that id.

Yes, you could get the name and address of the internet account holder, but that is not necessarily the person who was using the pc when the username was created.

It would be easier if identity had to be verified to register an account, perhaps with a debit or credit card
Very well put blessed :-)
With all the problems, I see that it might affect those who share an IP address at home but for the good of the site then maybe banning an IP address is a start.

A few people may lose out but for the good of the site it may be better for the majority.

It may not solve those who use computer cafes and such but it's a start.
Doesn't stop determined people using mobile dongles; internet cafes or proxy ip addresses.
Here is an example of what active and petty moderation can do to a website.

It is a fine line to walk.

If it were possible for everyone to exercise forethought rather than hindsight, the problem would be solved.

Simply ignore them by not responding and encouraging them . . . . .and wait for the Editor to zap them during his tea break.
Well I blame Betty, laying the blame on her poor unofrtunate 17yr old son is just wicked.
