Wireless Desktop??

This may sound like a stupid question but if you have a desktop computer (no internet subscription with anyone) can you add something like a USB stick/wireless to pick up an internet connection from someone else in the area??

My partners ex is saying she is getting free internet with some device her friend is giving her but she is not registering for the net with anyone!!

I think its a lie myself and she is paying for internet even though claiming false poverty!!!

Its called 'piggy-backing' when using someone else's wifi wave. You have to know the password or codes to use it.
You can buy a dongle that gives you wireless internet but you have to pay. Something like this:

Or you can buy a wireless adapter to make your pc wifi enabled. If your neighbour has unsecured wireless network, there is no reason why you can't connect and get the internet free.

It is highly illegal and you can be prosecuted:
