many thanks for link
Have been away on holiday with no internet, reference books etc. so haven't done EV for a while. Back now so thanks for the link. Hope you and family are all doing well
Hi Midazolam!
Was feeling numb after spending most of yesterday at a wedding. Now I'm feeling number after completing this!!!
Hi Christiana!
Hope you enjoyed your holiday.---Have just finished appeals re-marks for this year.
Merci Novalis, I had wrongly placed the unchecked letters of 19 and 40 across, but now know how much I had gone wrong.
Hello everybody!

Have trundled along quite nicely in the past few weeks - as have you all I see. This week has confused me (wot again I hear you all exclaim) have managed the majority of clues, but as usual the enigma is by-passing me and 'combine' speaks only of the worry of trying to get one into the field to get the harvest in!!

Some heavy duty clues from you Mensa rated clever clogs would be most welcome.

Hope all is peace and harmony with my regular helpmates.

Regards

Devadolly
Hi Devadolly!
You need to make a slight adjustment to the end of combine and then look at the first 4 letters of 12a and 14a. Those need rearranging ( as do another eight letter runs in various answers ) to answer the question formed by making that adjustment to the title. Also - see my earlier post about feeling number after finishing it and DocHH's response, especially his first word and "how much".
Hello Devadolly
I would have thought that a "6" letter word in the posting from novalis and my opening word, plus a 7 letter word indicated by a two word sequence in my posting (3,4) would help! Peutetre!
Glad to see you are still an EVist
Hello DocHH & Novalis
Forgive tardy reply - decorating the living room is always a logistic nightmare........................................
Oh my goodness! I am sorry I asked - not really chaps and /or chapesses!
I suspect there is the use of a B in there somewhere..........
Now I have 12a beginning with a D and there is the unpleasent little bug from 14a thgat I am going to have to work with. Am I right?
Despite appropriate ancestry, French is something of a lost cause. However, thank you all for your help, I still think you all have the most devious minds and am very envious.

Regards

Devadolly

PS EV is adictive and I have no intention of quitting - despite you superior beings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The D is correct., as is the nasty part of 14ac, which needs adjusting!! You can count, even in French, on our support!
I have decorating holidays, we go away on holiday and get the decorator to come in and decorate!!
Thank you DocHH - yes, we used to do that but there was the nightmareof coming home to put everything back in place. We don't do minimalist!

Will (hopefully) sit down and give the EV another looking at later.

regards

Devadolly
Hi Devadolly!

Hope you've now managed to complete it ( both EV and decorating ).
I agree that EV is addictive and should carry a Government health warning ( perhaps a picture of a brain addled by attempting it! ).
Zut alors! Moi, I don't have a devious mind. I was, as is always the case , lucky with this one. French is my second foreign language.
Hi Novalis
No, didn't get a chance to give EV another good prodding!
Despite decorator doing all the painty bit, still takes an age to get back to normal, 23 pictures and 15 shelves of books don't help but it will be good to get all the Chambers ref works back in place - the kitchen was definately over-crowded with them in there! Totally agree with you about the health warning - better not say that too loud or we will have council snoop saying it is too dangerouis for us!
You do have a devious mind............

Regards and thanks to all

Devadolly

PS second(?) foreign language - that is just showing off!
Hello Devadolly
Can't the "staff" put everything back? Obviously this needs to be under instruction, numerically!
I also agree that the "second" foreign language reference from Novalis is a bit daunting!
Never mind we'll just have to resign ourselves to monoglots!
Ciao
Moi!!
Hi Devadolly and DocHH!

My favourite subjects at school were languages as they were the only thing I could do to an even half-decent standard. I'm sure that there are very many things which both of you can do far better than I could even dream about.
Only teasing Novalis, just jealous!

DocHH- I am the staff!

Devadolly
