Speeding fine?

I have just received a notification of speeding, where I have been asked to complete a form saying if I was the driver. I was doing 94 on the motorway, stupid I know, but I did it. I have no points on my licence at present, what is the likely outcome? I have been asked to supply my driving licence number ec. but not to send my licence. Is this normal practice?
Any advice would be gratefully received, I am worried I will lose my licence, which I need for my job.

Thanks in advance,

Dave.

You may get a ban - it is discretionary.

How long ago did you pass your test?

I passed in 1992
Along with the request for information should be an offer of a fixed penalty - 60 fine and three penalty points.
When my husband received notification of similar offence he got the same form asking for confirmation of driver's details, on returning that he then received the conditional offer of 60 fine and three points which he returned with his licence for endorsement. He has been driving over 25 years and had a clean licence.

It's seems a wee bit scary right now, but I don't think you're in danger of losing your licence right now as long as you weren't in a 30mph roadworks zone for example.

94mph in a 70mph zone should encounter no more than a 60 fine and the 3 penalty points I would have thought.
You will most likely be decapitated, or am I getting mixed up with the punishment for masturbation in Indonesia? Yes, I think I am, so will have to mirror the above posts, probably 3 points plus 60 fine at least. Sorry to hear about that, davy, but we have all done it, but not all of us have been unlucky enough to get caught.

Thanks for the above guys and girls, that has put my mind at rest, and Dusty, you are right, it does seem scary. I know I was going too fast, and you would not believe how I drove to work this morning, speed limit all the way, talk about locking the stable door after the horse has bolted...

Again, thanks people, it is appreciated.
Dave unlucky mate, we all do that so don't beat yourself up, you'll be fine.

HOWEVER............prepare for the sandal wearers amongst the people on this messagboard.

They'll be out for you, inflicting their stifled patronising views about how speed kills and that you should look at the speedo etc etc

In fact, I'm surprised that they haven't already done so. They must all be on their holidays/peace keeping missions, munching fairtrade wheatgrass juice and knitting yoghurt.
Well this doesn't really answer the question but thought I would share a little experience of mine with you all! I was once driving on a near empty new motorway that had just opened and driving the sh*t car I was at the time thought I would see just how fast it would go! I had got to around 90 and didn't dare go any faster , continued like this for a while when I just happened to glance in the mirror and noticed I police car behind me! It was obviously too late to brake so I just eased off the accelerator whilst pooing my pants! They started to pull out and I thought oh no I'm done but instead they overtook me and went even faster!
It will be fixed penalty 60 and 3 points, you will only have to go to court and face a possible ban if you are exceeding the speed limit by more than 26 mph.
You can count yourself lucky to be below the 26mph over mark at least. I went to court for 98mph and received 4 points (because I already had 6 and begged) and a 700 fine.
