As a newcomer here I have to say how appalled I am to see members making crass remarks towards black people. I myself am a half caste. I was born in england.I hold down a good job and have brought my children up to respect others. It pains me to see blacks being the object of amusement as just seen in chatterbank. Live and let live. I hope the editor removes those remarks!!

Well bless me Ethel - you truly are astounding.
OMG I'm sorry cherrybea but as I said before you use the word 'half caste' now, which you justify using by letting us all no that your 50, what legend.isgod and other Abers were doing was remenicing on what their parents/grandparents USED to say!

B00 - you say you're a bag.

What we wanna know is - are yer a Louis Vuitton bag or just a common-or-garden plastic carrier bag?
The thread just reminded me of Catherine Tates character Nan. My grandparents said similar things. I remember happily skipping down East Ham High Street in my youth and the old West Indian women sitting on the street benches calling me a skinny little white boy who needed fattening up.

Nothing wrong with reminiscing, and I see no malicious intent in the thread. For all intents and purposes I was definitely skinny, definitely white, and still a boy at heart. The fattening came naturally. I laughed at them laughing at me.
We used to call black babies, picaninnies, it was a compliment and a term of endearment.
why is it that some black, asian whatever, communities take so much offence to what is basically a nothing comment??? could you imagine the country we lwoul dbe in if everybody took offence to every single little thing? ie calkling a scot a jock, an englishman a pomme an irishman a paddy or a welshman a taff? As far as im concerned its too easy and convenient for some folk to use the word racist when really nothing of the sort is intended or meant to offend. they all think everybodys out to get them!! rubbish
