Hi all, wondering if you can help.

My car has recently failed it's MOT, and the orignal one is now expired. My mechanic says that he cannot fix the car, so while I am contemplating what on earth to do with it, I have registered it as SORN.

So, my question is, when I decide what to do with it, i.e scrap, can I get into trouble for driving it to it's "final destination"? If so, how do I get around this?

Thanks very much
Honey

scrapyards buy cars, some come with a flat backlorry that have a hiab on ( mini crane). they just lift your car on to the back of the lorry.DON'T FORGET to fill the form in and tell the dvlc that it has been sold for scrap.
yes you can get into trouble for driving it to it's final destination.

Call round scrap merchants and find one that will collect, they will probably collect for free as with the price of scrap at the moment they will make a fair bit of money from the car.

In fact they should really pay you, but not many scrap merchants will if they collect as they know you have a problem disposing of it.

But don't pay them for the collection!

Thanks for your advice with this, much appreciated!
Your council can take it away for free which will save you from driving a car with no MoT on the road as they collect :)

Just been thru similar probs. 1 MOT centre failed and another passed, same car - no work done? New tax disk not to be claimed until 5th October (as form V11 - renewal)
Chuck....the reason collection is free is due to the cost of mens labour & vehicle to collect.

You will be paid if you deliver vehicle to scrap yard. Ring 'em all for best price. They only pay on receipt of Registration docs.
