I've just read a novel by Patricia Cornwell. I wasn't keen so read another couple just to see thay it wasn't a duff example. I am still not keen. Am I missing something in her novels that I should have appreciated more?

There was a post on here a few months ago discussing Patricia Cornwell. The general concensus is she went off the boil after and including "Black Notice". I personally have found her unreadable from this point on. Her earlier books up to this point a really very good though.

Garybfsl, I checked previous posts but missed that it was so recently submitted. Sorry!!!
Is was Black Notice that I read and I found the idea of a furry murderer ludicrous. The second novel Trace resurrected a previously killed off character prior to Black Notice.
I am not inclined to try her earlier in consequence, though I take your point that they are better.
Thank you for your comments.
I also went off Patricia Cornwell, really enjoyed her earlier novels. However the Kay Scarpatta books are a lot better than her other stuff. Was tempted to try her again, but going of earlier posts I won't bother.
If you haven't already try Kathy Reichs or Kathryn Fox instead, both very good

I am glad its not just me then, Tickledtrout (what a fab name btw) They were a bit too gruesome for me and I found some of the characters a bit annoying. Oh well, some you win some you lose.
Thanks for the alternative suggestions, I will look out for them.
I also enjoyed the Scarpetta novels, but did not like her other novels and later writings.
