Before I started practising snogging on them, I used to get great comfort by rubbing the edge of a really soft pillowcase whilst sucking my thumb at the same time.
The thumb was always the right one - the left was just never the same. And the best fabric was also wincyette or flannelette - cotton or that horrible nylon fabric just didn't do it for me. I called it my piddy. My friend also did the same - she called hers a goy goy.
