I have a problem freeing up memory to enable me to load the wireless gubbins. I put the disk in and it came up with a message saying i needed 100MB of free memory. So i deleted a load of photos and old documents and re-inserted the disk, it now tells me i have even less memory...? What???? I right clicked on my computer and according to that i have loads of space, most confused!!! any assistance would be gratefully received!!

Does it mean hard disk space or RAM?

Have you checked it's trying to install on the right drive?

are you confusing "memory" and disk space?

memory (ram) is what your machine uses to work with programs

disk space is where the programs and photos are permanently stored

have you emptied the recycle bin
Me thinks if you haven't got 100MB free on your hard drive you need a bigger hard drive . However I think Ethel is on the right track & maybe it means RAM

I really am a computer novice. How would i check that its installing on the correct drive? I have emptied the recycle bin. There is an AOL tech support number, maybe it would be worth phoning them. The trouble is we have always had probs with this computer, it was cheap from staples and as such you get what you pay for!!
katie - my 5 year old desktop was a real cheapie and it's been great.

Tell us exactly what you are doing and what happens - what message do you get?

How old is your pc?

Well, having been completely unable to gain access to the internet this weekend i nearly threw the comp through the window. Anyway, i put the disk back in and it said i had even less memory, but i thought sod it, i'll try anyway. So i went along with the intructions and here i am back on the internet loaded up on new broadband. What i didn't notice in the small print was that we need a wireless adaptor too. Why AOL didn't tell me this i dont know. So for the time being we are not wireless but we are back on t'internet, we only wanted wireless so that my son can have his xbox 360 upstairs out of our way, but if we can find a long enough ethernet cable then i think we'll go with that. thanks guys for all your help.
