I suspect I have understood the question wrong but here goes..... The player has one socket so that must be the out and that becomes the one that you put the DVD to be copied in. The recorder probably has one in and one out socket so connect that scart cable to the 'in' socket. If your scart plug has an in/out slide switch on them make sure the settings correspond with the socket they are in. You will need to find out which 'line in' correponds with the scard 'in' socket on your recorder and set it to that in order to receive the signal from the player.
When everything is set up play the DVD and set the recorder to record at the same time.
A similar set up can be done with RCA sockets. (the round black/red/yellow plugs)
Was the connection wizard I posted in your previous question no good? It's the best on the web and covers most scenarios.
