The wife's received a flower bouquet recently, but it contains two flowers that we can't identify.

The first does not look like a flower at all. It looks like a number of small "acorns" coloured whitish green, all of which have a red tip on top of a stem. There is no sign of these opening like a normal flower so we don't think they're buds although we could be wrong.

The second looks similar to gypsophila except that the stem and flowers are a mauve colour as if they've been dipped in something. It looks very unnatural as there is no green on the spray at all.

Thanks for any suggestions.

The mauve flower could be a wax flower. I think it's possible they are actually artficial!
