Is it possible to put an excel sheet into chronological order. If so, how do I enter the date?

first highlight the column you wish to put the date into. go into format on the top menu, then click on cells. In the tile that presents there are tabs, click the numbers tab, click on date and you will see all the options. pick the option you want to use. click OK. this will then format the column and when all the dates are in the column you can then clidk the sort icon.
I'm not sure I understand your problem, but you can format the cell as a date - at the top as format - cells- Date.

Format the column then enter the date you can the sort by that column (Because Excel sees dates as numbers)
sounds complicated - no need for all that formatting
just type the date 17/09/08 and excel will know

build the table with the top row as lables - font should be bigger and bold
date down a column
data across a row - no missed rows

select a cell within the table
data | sort
select the column with the date
(if you want to be flash you can sort on up to three columns - date, surname, town or whatever)

if it's scores or marks for the same people over time
select the top lables
Data | Filter | auto filter
it's easy

Dates in numerical form and data in following columns. Highlight the date column and hit the az column. A window pops up. Hit the 'Expand the selection' and all should be done. If not happy you can Edit/undo.
