Region Free: PAL or NSTC

I have a region 2 PAL DVD player, if I unlock it with one of those remote control things will it be able to play region free NSTC DVD's?

If not is there any way it can do that?

You can do a host of things. You can as you said do a region hack with your remote control, just google your dvd player make and model and remote control hack.

You can also pick up a cheap dvd player for about �30 from most supermarkets, most of these are region free.

Or if you happen to have a PS2, there is a disc you can buy called region x(Totally legitimate) which you could pick up for a couple of quid on E Bay.
