We are hoping to travel to Scotland in May and would like to take our car but travel by train, like you can on the Eurostar. I have heard this is possible but cannot find a train company that provides this service on the internet. Does anybody know of one?

Motorail services between England and Scotland were withdrawn in 1995. John Prescott promised to re-introduce them in 1999 but I'm pretty sure that it did not happen. Try a google search for motorail then search in reults for Scotland.
I've never heard of this and think that the 3 major stations in Scotland : Glasgow (2 there) and Edinburgh (Waverley) are ill equipped to deal with unloading cars from trains. Waverley is probably the best candidate of these 3 stations.
Apparently the previous service which was withdrawn (as Gef mentioned), was destined for Stirling.

Thats a shame. Thank you for your help anyway.
you would be able to take a really small one that would sit in the shelf above the seats.
