I've created a domain name via www.123-reg.co.uk - after processing, a message said to check www.allwhois.com to ensure ownership, which I did & it's mine all mine (for 2 years at least). It also said to ensure the names are preset in my control panel, please could someone explain how to do this (I'm running xp). Thank you.

I assume it means in the online control panel, not in XPs control panel.  These domain people have online maintenance of your domain which is sometimes called a control panel.  I think what they mean is, when you log in, do you have control of the domain?
