The health visitor thinks my 4 year old grandson has an undescended testicle. He has to see the doctor, am I right in thinking this could involve an operation and general anaesthetic?

What a worry it must be for you horselady. The first thing that should happen is your grandson should be referred to a paediatric surgeon who will probably carry out a minor operation called an Orchidopexy and I am afraid he will have to have a general anaesthetic. It really is important that he has it done sooner rather than later before complications set in as he gets older
hi there, my son had the same when he was 2yrs, he is now 4 now and fighting fit. it was a day patient operation and was over in half hour if that. i worried for months before (my posts are probably still on here somewhere) but it all worked out fine.

Thank you both, I don't know, I spent all those years worrying about my children when they were growing up and now I'm doing it all over again!
