to pour a concrete slab....

Don't know what you mean Nosha.
Surely you have to pump out the water from the foundations first, then tip the stuff in pronto.
Concrete displaces the air, so no more water seeps into the concrete from the trench whilst it sets.

we are doing a basement!!!
So are 3.5metres in the ground... and so need waterproof concrete and tanking to prevent basement constructin ever ever leaking...
