Bailiffs

My son ran up debts at his previous address whilst living with his partner. The bailiffs may now be called in. We have taken him back so that he has roof over his head. What I would like to know is whether a bailiff has any rights to remove things from my house. He came back with nothing as he left everything for his partner and child. Hope someone is able to give me a few ideas. Thanks.

They have no rights to remove goods that don't belong to your son.

If bailiffs do turn up, don't open the door, don't let them in and speak to them through the letter box or an open (upstairs) window. Once they have been allowed into your house, they are allowed to force entry to gain admission on subsequent visits.

Your son would be better to try and come to some arrangements with his creditors regarding repayments, before the bailiffs turn up.

Thanks for the reply. Just don't want any bailiffs entering my house when they are not my debts.
