Can they force me to testify?

I made a statement at a police station against my father. they now want me to testify in court but i don't want to. If i ignore their requests to testify what can happen to me?

You can be served with a witness summons to compel you to attend court.

Having attended, of course, your memory ofthe events in question may not necessarily be as good as the prosecutor might wish. A reluctant witness is often less use than no witness at all.
